Can I really care this much about flooring and faucets? Apparently, I can.
After massive rain and wind on Thursday night, I had figured nothing would happen on Friday, and I was right. Frankly, I was a little happy to slow things down just a touch and absorb what’s going on. Plus, I really wanted it all to dry out thoroughly. When we went by on Saturday, casually seeing if someone was working (no one was), I clenched just a little when I saw our morning room wall swinging gently in the wind, as it was only connected at the corner to one other wall and it was SUPER windy. Note I did not take a picture of that, nor did I send PM a message. I had faith, and I was right: today when we came by, all the downstairs was framed in, and the morning room was strong and sturdy, 90-degree angles and firmly nailed in place. Yay!
Here are some shots of our first floor!

They made good progress last week, we got delayed too because of the rain and hopefully they worked today.
Hopefully they did! This has been a really rainy winter and spring for the Mid-Atlantic! Go figure.
Glad your Morning Room didn’t take Flight! That’s my favorite Morning Room Design. The vaulted ceilings with the arched window. It just lets so much light into the room and kitchen. I love it!
Thanks–I think we’re really going to like it. We’re trying to figure out how to furnish it. Did you get one, and what are you doing with it? We’re thinking a table and chairs, and possibly a desk for homework/ surfing.
Oddly enough, even though it was my one of my favorite features of RH floor plans and why we kept coming back (until we bought), we ended up not getting it. It was like $19,995, and we got a whole lot of upgrades for that. Unlike other models where you really need the space for an eating area, the Highgroves dinette is big enough to put a large table and server or buffet. I’m sad but like all the stuff we got for that amount.
It looks great. I read that it is wise to put dehumidifiers on both levels to help dry your house out. Apparently all new houses go through a drying out faze. So don’t worry about it getting wet.
Thanks! I wonder if that would help with the hardwood floors. I read that there is sometimes a shrink/swell issue with new wood floors.
It looks great! Love how it sits up high on that crawl space and those brick stairs are going to look really nice leading to your porch.
It’s nice to be able to walk around “inside” your house, isn’t it??
It is! Makes it feel really real, almost for the first time. And I am especially grateful for those brick stairs. We’ve looked at houses for about two years, and I can’t tell you how many under-construction homes we’ve prowled around, having crawled into them on narrow boards or ladders! It’s great to be able to walk up actual stairs!
